My second son Chandra is back this week and will be around for another week or so. Since his new courier business took off, this is his first visit home. His new franchise courier service is called BEST and he's been managing it past 6 months in Tanah Merah, Kelantan.
His mother and I brought him out shopping last Sunday afternoon since Melaka is back to CMCO stages..... since last wednesday and my.my.my ....the shopping centres' were packed full. (And as I saw the amount chandra paid on the bill of our grocery cart...no doubt things are getting more expensive). I supposed many will be doing pent up revenge shopping as best they can .....what with EPF allowing everybody to withdraw up to 10k from their own accounts!
Anyhow, moving on....we decided to have dinner nearby with the children...at Tony Roma's but unfortunately they were out of all their ala' carte food except chicken!
So, michelle called Joey and she recommended we go to Daorae Korean BBQ near Melaka Raya.
The restaurant was very near to Hatten Hotel. So we strolled over and while doing the walk saw that traffic for a sunday evening was quite packed. Walking the short distance was nice.
This korean bbq has been around a while..Joey comes here to eat often, so using her name we got to book the nice window seats!
The grandkids seemed to enjoy this setting and food as well. Nice experience to seat "on the floor" like the koreans to have a meal with family. The dishes are mainly in sets although there are side orders available too.
I wanted to try their raspberry soju but they only had small bottles for 2 so we ordered their rice wine . Verdict: It is a must try.
The young people of this great nation need to be very worried financially speaking... we are approaching a time of both political turbulence and sectorial business downgrading..
In my personal opinion, there is a method to this debauched madness currently in play nationally, where both families financial strength & individual financial strength is at peril....a macro economic perspective to this, so to speak.
The main bulk of this nations citizenry's standard of living (& lost opportunity) is being sacrificed for the cream of the crop. (again) ie _political one upmanship and power play_.
This is the beginning of a *debased currency programme* that i have been warning about.
Based on this line of thinking, you can be assured ringgit value will start to drop from 2021 because:
▪︎Debt to GDP is @ 76%. (Perbelanjaan negara berbanding revenue dari cukai ). As a requisite of our Modern Monetary system, *Higher Inflation* will be Bank Negara 's aim. Higher inflation also means govt loans and financial burdens become cheaper to offset.
▪︎Business environment will continue not be good for many sectors because covid is weakening supply chains and purchase demands.....Malaysia however, will see its manufacturing sectors bloom middle 2021 as more china based manufacturers restart locally to by- pass America's trade blocks. However, be aware there is a industry by industry consolidation effect happening now.
_Watch our spot currency rates / reer rates in forward trade which should give an enlightening time lapse to the coming downgrade_.
▪︎Banks nett interest marginpun sudah koyak because of low interest policy, jadi to make sure money & liquidity is revolving strongly & to avoid stagflation, *BNM akan terpaksa naikkan inflation rate*. They have no other option.
They will program this debasing to be a slow but steady eventuality.
But, its also within the next 5 years that the sufferings of the poor / middle class will happen through food inflation and through lost opportunity.
As i've repeatedly written, i foresee a return to financial situation like the 70s & 80s - i.e _*Money loses its value through slow inflation*_.
Be aware folks!
☝️How will all this news impact the individual ? You see, the economic machine and stock market will recover from this recession.
Individuals and families' personal recessions won’t necessarily follow the same recovery timeline.
This pandemic is making inequality loom large and wide for this entire generation and is world wide. Unless you are aware of it, you won't see it that way, but covid 19 is making the rich richer and poor poorer.
The share market players and business owners buying up fire sale assets will know what i'm talking about.
These are happening Not by design but by circumstance.
It is logical ( to me ) that many hard working, dutifully tax paying middle income earning individuals will be digging into their lifetime of hard work savings; to get through these tough times.
But unfortunately, (with or without CMCO) their earnings & finances HAS already been screwed.
So, what happens once this pandemic is prolonged....either because of lack of properly validated vaccine or because of mutation of virus ?
My question to you would then be.....How long can your savings last...
Now consider this, those families, if with young teenage kids.....what are those kids chances of further education ( even with PTPN help).
Would'nt those kids go through the ( lost opportunity) syndrome their parents went through in the 80s or 90s if their parents too are from middle class or poor families?
Or worse, if these kids & families are from single parent families. imagine the lost opportunity they have to endure [by going to work early in life] just so their younger brothers and sisters may have food or a better roof over their heads.
So expect the anger of many on the streets to be even worse coming out of this crisis than it was coming out of of any other time/ or financial crisis (even though this virus induced economic problems is a completely different animal).
Wealth inequality is likely going to get a whole lot worse by the time this thing is over. this pandemic is breeding a new type of problem that we have not encountered in our lifetime and it is added with the fact that human labor is slowly but surely being cast aside for technological improvement and output increase in working areas under the name of Artificial Intelligence and robotics.
Gunabalan's Musings and Travails:
It has been almost 9 months of covid 19 crisis and the end seems nowhere near though thankfully melaka has been a green zone for some time now.
For Malaysia though, this pandemic can be thought of as a prolonged natural disaster, although it is much broader in impact than the closest analogue, the Fukushima nuclear tragedy.
It has been a tumultuous year, to say the least.
Work, business, daily life & personal finances have all been affected and although some amongst the economic machine and stock market will fall and be crushed by the happenings of this pandemic, most will recover from this recession.
Individuals and families' personal recessions won’t necessarily follow the same recovery timeline.
This pandemic is making inequality loom large and wide for an entire generation and it is world wide.

I tell you, the after effects of this pandemic is going to be multi generational !
So expect the anger of many on the streets to be even worse coming out of this crisis than it was coming out of of any other time/ or financial crisis (even though this virus induced economic problems is a completely different animal).
Coming out of this pandemic, we will witness a wave of :
1. defaults,
2. bankruptcies,
3.reorganizations, and restructurings.....all of which means less jobs, lesser individual earning capacity and lesser social help ( as many who used to be in the Middle Income will also see their finances destroyed) as more swathes of society become effected...one way or another.
At the same time, we can expect to see a new preference among businesses for :
*risk aversion,
*resiliency over efficiency,
*redundancy in supply chains,
*greater automation and artificial intelligence, and greater interest by governments in national self-sufficiency.
We will also see reorganizations and restructurings that produce businesses with more resilient supply chains, increased reliance on robotics, and less outsourcing which .....will bring about a wholesale change in the functions and risks of many MNEs’ head offices, subsidiaries and affiliates.
All this basically means Wealth Inequality is likely going to get a whole lot worse by the time this thing is over.
THE NEW NORMAL, people.
This pandemic is breeding a new type of problem that we have not encountered in our lifetime and it is added with the fact that human labor is slowly but surely being cast aside for technological improvement and output increase in working areas under the name of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
Not only is this covid induced pandemic recession considerably more devastating than recent pandemics, it is also unique in its disruptive impact on functions and risks.
It cannot properly be informed by past events and behavior and therein lies the trouble.
How many understand this coming bleak future, i wonder.
In 1995, Chief Justice P. B. Gajendragadkarwas quoted in anIndian Supreme Court ruling:
When we think of the Hindu religion, unlike other religions in the world, the Hindu religion does not claim any one prophet; it does not worship any one god; it does not subscribe to any one dogma; it does not believe in any one philosophic concept; it does not follow any one set of religious rites or performances; in fact, it does not appear to satisfy the narrow traditional features of any religion orcreed. It may broadly be described as away of life and nothing more.
This advaita philosophy is certainly popular, and offers a simple explanation of the many deities. Nonetheless, many theologians have considered God to be a person. He is not merely an anthropomorphic representation, nor are the various deities and murtis simply incarnations or representations of an impersonal Supreme.
Thus Hinduism includes both monism and monotheism. It is misleading to call the Abrahamic religions,"the monotheistic traditions," implying that monotheism is absent from the Eastern traditions. Vedanta includes many monotheistic schools. They may accept the existence of many gods and goddesses, but strongly emphasizes the pre-eminence of the Supreme Deity.
