To date my wife and I had been to many a dinner soiree and gatherings but not many elicit the warmth and cordial fellowship as when Michelle and I were invited for Dinner by our advisor and benefactor, Mr.Jackson Ong of ECO Span Singapore, fame.
Our dinner location was a friend's hotel ( The Beuford Hotel,Melaka) - where the owner David whole heartedly and might I add lovingly slaved over a hot wok for hours to cook the most delectable and mouth watering melaka dish ala Baba & amp;Nyonya way.
Their Ikan Bawal Goreng Chili Garam and Udang Nenas dengan Buah Keluak was not only lovely but also very tasty. A very good vegetarian dish I had not seen in a while was also made available to us that night, Kacang Botol with fried dried belacan and not forgetting the all time favorite Omelette's with cincaluk.
A wonderful evening meal.
The wife normally doesn't say much during these invited dinners as she is aware I will take up her quota of the conversation, but that night she was in a particularly jovial and talkative mood! The promise of an excellent evening and dinner was made possible by the attendance of the guests of Honor, Simon & Christopher who were as usual excellent dinner company. Chris and I go back 20 years or more to a time when the both of us used to work in the Malacca Village Resort. I remember clearly how during my night shifts, I would usually be sloshed to the brim after 2am and occasionally would decide to take a few laps in the Olympic styled swimming pool located beside the Bar. Chris would diligently follow my every lap, faithfully walking along side the length and breath of the pool as i swam just to ensure nothing happens to me! A good friend,indeed.
David also found the time to introduce to me a gadget that once plugged into the car's lighter socket was able to deliver a smoother drive and promised of petrol savings ! What a wonderful thing !
Later that evening, as I made my way to the Honky Tonk Cafe, the full moon that night along with the congenial atmosphere of the late evening in the cafe made me give Thanks with all my Heart this blessed life of mine which I share with so many endearing souls,even though we encounter hiccups here and there but at the end of the day, having all said and done, it still is a truly blessed life here in Malacca.
