I was quite flummoxed yesterday upon watching an entertaining episode of History Channel's-
The Kennedy's. Well, to be honest, it was entertaining until it started me thinking.
You know what they say about how dangerous it is only having a little bit of knowledge, don't you?
Well that might be me.
the show was true to form a snapshot of the era in which the protagonist lived and played. What made me uneasy was the indirect assumption by the show's directors that by reliving the mores & virtues and exacting American standards of the show's lead character, a form of exemplary leadership and true patriotic man will be unearthed. Given that he was well known for his ' Ask not what the country can do for you but what you can do for the country " diatribe, to me the 'non sequitor' espoused by the show is ill conceived for this period in time and social development.
Surprised?
Despite the fact that such pious statements is normally espoused far and wide by a variety of "smart leading men" it actually should be dissected and scrutineered by oneself as our history has shown us these are the very men who will use you (the general public) for their own ulterior motives by first ridiculing your self worth in the eyes of the others & to show that they are more capable and/or are of Higher thinking. They want to be the one people emulate. They want to tell you how to live your life.
With our current world enveloped with uprisings,"Bersih", 'Arab springs', "Tea parties",'Jasmine revolutions' & 'Occupy Wall Street" mentality amongst the young, the down trodden and those in destitute, it doesn't take much for any crowd to latch on to ecumenical type of speaker with stage speaking prowess to vow the common men into doing what they think they should be doing irregardless to justice and rule of Law ?
Bear in mind that I am not condoning of any particular status quo to remain in power (where ever that may be) but am more terrified of those who encourage abuse through mob powers for perceived liberties to be obtained.
As you can see below, the social media is driving the wave in fermenting passions to up rise.
The micro blogging sites ala FaceBook & Twitter ; even Sina (a form of twitter) in China is showing us the income inequalities between the have's and the have nots. The rising bitterness against this rich/poor divide is quite wide spread.

UPDATE: Protestors in Los Angeles and New York are calling for supplies and labour reinforcements. If you are able to offer towels, non-meat foods or tents, please keep the supply chain going.
Details forthcoming. If you have video of a protest in your city or have information regarding a protest you are organizing, please, get email us so we can help spread the word!
Fight! This is the chance EVERYONE has been waiting for!

Greek riot police have fired teargas at petrol bomb throwing youths and charged them wielding batons as 10,000 public sector workers marched to protest against budget cuts and high taxes. The country is today in the grip of a 24-hour national strike which has seen flights grounded, schools shut and people on the streets trying to storm the Athens parliament of its bankrupt government.
Violence broke out as anarchists mixed with the marchers and started attacking more than 1,000 police with any weapons they could find.
This has been the first nationwide walkout in months and marked the start of what campaigners say is the culmination of two years of tax hikes and wage cuts.
In the chaos hospitals ran on emergency rotas and some state schools closed.
The show actually contained the story of the relationship between citizens and leaders,i.e.government. Implicit in this statement is how the citizenry see the role of government in their lives. If for the United States, Kennedy's message reinvigorated his nation in his day, but in this day and time of ours it can be termed very ill fitting for those in the younger generation, as it supports the unquestioning dogma of government that is not to be questioned.
That style of superior servitude was derived out of a time & period where-in the the government was supposed to be your benefactor; in charge of your affairs. Indirectly it also alludes to a mentality where-in the master & slave or in Tamil- Pereea Veedu/ Chinna Veedu mentality seeps in.
"they tell you what to do, when to do it and how to do it" you just do it ....their way.
Never question their authority to tell you what to do.
To the down trodden hoi polloi, it alludes to an elitist, superiority 'Tuan Besar' mentality- question not what we have done for you but first question yourself did you obey us ?
A prime example may be the indians & malays and their view of "Kerajaan" and what that "kerajaan' means to them metaphysically, culturally and socially. If one is seen as the benefactor & protector, that one should have subjects (subjugated subjects) who benefits through their patronage.
This is mainly why those societies are not moving forward.
They were never encourage to 'Think'. To challenge the status quo, to ask why. They just needed to follow the leader.
Well, that is why there is so much strife now days. World wide people are tired of being subjugated.
They want to taste freedom of choice. They demand upward mobility opportunities.
They want government to benefit them and not vice versa.
There in lies my fear and what flumoxed me. The problem.
If not propoerly lead, these mutually exclusive (for now) ideas and thoughts can be hijacked by the Jack Kennedy's / Ibrahim Ali's of the world to cheat the people ad infinatum.
These pied pipers are there only because we allow them to think for us.
To speak on behalf of us.
What say you ?
