The joy and fun of joint festivities continues in our lives as friends and neighbors get together to celebrate the end of another eventful year here in Melaka.
This particular group picture of the Famosa and Malacca Toastmaster Club members get together on the occasion of the The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival themed meeting was taken on the 22 Dec in the lobby of the 906 Hotel in Melaka Raya with much food (courtesy of Willie Foo) & frivolous gaiety befitting this motley crew of well wishes and good friends.
My wife also invited me to join in on her girl’s night out with her former classmates and friends in the Club last Saturday. (She has been trying hard to keep me from worrying too much about her emotional state since her lover Andrew has been away to visit his family in the States since past three weeks and had not bothered to contact her yet. Given that this is the Christmas and New Year season, I’ve told her it was inconsiderate of him not to have kept in touch with her, but she defended Andrew by saying he had told her he was spending Christmas with HIS family and she is willing to wait until he has the time for her again).
Over towers of Carlsberg beer, the ladies, their partners and I whiled the evening away in the private chambers of our Games room contented to play and reminisce over the good times.
Lately Shiv Charan Kaur has been trying to get me to act/perform as one of the leads in a theater play she will be producing for the Malacca Theater Group.
I kinda think that she is scrapping the bottom of the pool once she has to resort to contacting me for such roles, but que sera sera, though I cannot in all honesty see myself performing in her shows.

On a cheerier note, i had been approached by the Selat Horizon management committee members to reconsider my absence away from the condo and they were curious to know if I would help them manage the place once more.
In the same week Joseph contacted me to ask if I would like to quote my rates as manager of the gated community he presides over.
And to add to the confusion, my buddy Vincent Low called out of the blue to say that he had been singing praises about me to his boss in the Lim Kok Wing University and his boss now wants me to submit my credentials to him, for him to consider me for a job over there !
