During the fine weekend past, the wife and I were invited to join up with her friends to do some shopping in Singapore for Deepavali clothing.

We were told to car pool and be ready by 6.00am for the drive down south, but somehow they only turned up at our doorsteps at 8.30am ! It transpired that the guys had been to Club Eleven last night at the behest of another, and they were drinking right up to 4.00 am and only got to their respective homes shortly after.
Hence, the delay.

But, not wanting to use that as a excuse the trip was carried on as planned and we manage to be in Singapore without any hassle by 12.15 pm. A short trip to the money changers later (where our miserable Ringgit only got 0.40 cents to the Sing Dollar ); we started our day trip shopping extravaganza. In between visits to the Teka Deepavali Bazzar, jaunts to Suntech for some Jewellery purchases and visits to Harvey Norman in Millenia Walk ( where me and angie had a very good massage), we also had some good time shopping in Sheng Siong for canned goods and cheap groceries for the home.
That evening also saw us make plans to have our dinner at the Singapore Cricket Club where I am an affiliate member but after getting there the crowd in attendance was dismally small and the kitchen too was about to close so we adjourned to Teka again for our makan.
Luckily, we drove into Singapore as many of the places we were headed to though quite near, was quite a distance when walked and most of us were bushed by the time evening came and we wanted nothing more than a cold beer and some food in our bellies.
As usual during this time, Indian Street was elegantly dressed up and the shimmering celebratory facades and fairy lights really made the street look like a wonderland !
All in all we manage to make the trip home to Melaka unscathed by 4.30am to some well deserved rest and sleep !
