The Holiday Inn Melaka recently celebrated their 60th anniversary and Michelle was kind enough to invite me to join her that evening for drinks and dinner. Luckily,my friend Mohd.Ridzwan, the hotel's Senior Manager was there to help greet and make us feel at home. Even Jeya Seelan, the current General Manager was very friendly towards us and helped make the occasion an enjoyable evening of events.
As usual in Sirocco Dining Room, the impeccable service and happy staffs were at their very best, ready at all times to make the guests feel welcomed and comfortable.
Around 9.30pm, Michelle and I made our departure and headed towards the Malacca Club for some after dinner drinks and dance. We were promptly joined there by her Thursday ToastMasters Group and the night rapidly turned raucous when my friend and SFA committee member,Victor Kwong and his buddies popped in for a drink and saw us there having a game of pool with the ladies.
With loud ribaldry sparring and punishing wit tossed merrily around with the utmost of ease and flair, the evenings elegant start was soon forgotten for the laughter and rib tickling stories that only copious amounts of liquor and beer can elicit from normally staid and stern men (and women) !
The whole night was eventually spent in the company of these boisterous mates, and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly with no exception.
Many a joke and tall stories later, Victor and I managed to have a game together with him emerging victorious after several well played shots.
The entire room was enthralled with the play as all conversations stopped for the moment as they oohh-ed and ahhh-ed with every stroke and pot we made.
Michelle surprised me though, with her ability to hold down the bottles of wine and beer mix we had that evening as previously this little lady was very allergic to beers and was definitely not able to down more that a sip of wine at any one time. But lately she has acquired a taste for holding her own with these drinks and seems quite at ease with the night life and constant partying. She appears to have a strong craving for men's companionship and a desire for night life and fun that I was never made aware of before.Having a new love in her life really does change a woman's direction and style.
We ended the nights' festivities with a jaunt down to the local Bah Kut Teh restaurant and had ourselves a gastronomic feast of pork and yam rice before departing close to 2.45am back to our respective abodes.
A Good Night, indeed.
