These are the happy days of Mr & Mrs. Gunabalan in pictures:
The weekends are
looked forward to with much anticipation in my home as this is the
time my son drives over to visit us with his two cherubic angels. Nicole is
growing up so fast, that week by week there can be seen changes in her physical
as well as mental state. She is learning to conceive her own peculiar traits
and characteristic facial expressions.
I
have no doubt the loving and caring environment surrounding
my grandchildren & her good upbringing is the reason for her
happiness and playful character!
I
give thanks for that immensely.
The angelic smile and playful nature of this girl brings
much joy into our lives as my wife and I always look forward to these weekly
visits for us to bond together with the girls as grandparents and grandchild.
With Nicole’s truly princess baby like
personality attributes- at times full of
naiveté with occasional displays of helplessness & sheer honesty in showing
her minutest feelings, this baby’s innocence is truly captivating and
encompassing to us.
Sometimes it may be clearer to a grandparent what
a person is not than what they are through the kids’
physical actions and physiological demeanor. Call it anything you like,
love, care/concern, but all grandparents love to attribute adult traits and character
to their kids and grand kids
They love to assume and discuss about, and compare
with how their grand kids high cheek bones will produce good future lineages, or
whether the big round eyes is from the Indian side of the father’s or whether the
childs’ long fingers or short stumpy fingers will enable her to progress well
in the future and all sorts of other assumptions based of tradition and
experience.
This is an experience and character that transcends race and geographic borders. I've personally seen Japanese grandparents on one side and American grandparents on the other, do the same.
It makes one realize we humans are all more similar in our hopes and desires than we realise or care to admit.
I've come to realise the joy of living can be seen in the eyes of a child as the wonderment of day to day living is truly encapsulated in their honest approach to those they love and understand.
The look of true happiness in a simple meeting, a piece of colorful paper or even a toy -say, a colorful ball, is truly uplifting when a child approaches it, because, in their wonderment we can see the base thrill of possibilities as their mind enjoys the concept of play and fun much more ecstatically than we adults do without the encumbrances we are used to.
