The Chinese New Year celebration started early for most of us this year as we prepared for the SFA Annual Dinner @ Pay Fong Hall which coincidentally we managed to fill by as much as 750 pax ! Kudos to the organising Chairman Victor Kwong and our Alumni Secretary Phillip Tay for a job excellently done.
This amount of paying dinner guests must honestly be the most successfull dinner tables sales for the alumni since for ever. The occasion was made more memorable with the contribution of Mr.Casimir Santiago and KL Chong with the help of their Class of 1973 old boys who managed to raise RM 63,000 this night for the Alumni and school.
This year for a change we had the school military band playing earnestly for the dinner invitees at the entrance whilst the evening pale light turned dark outside, for the moon had begun her daily ritual turn to light up the night's black. Inside the dinner venue though, the invitees were gaily serenaded by the melodies of the yester year as there were performers within the hall as well. This smooth and successful dinner was indeed a proud moment for all Franciscans in attendance. My 4 tables were centred around the side of the hall thus enabling me to concentrate more this year on our friends and relatives who came to support this event. Joey and her parents plus baby Nicole with Ariff, John zing & Michael Tan from S'pore; Michael Banerji took one table for his staff and was suitably impressed with our efforts as he can see the dinner grow year on year.

Also on our table were Francis Koh & Ignatius who was also suitably taken up with the crowd which impressed him no end as in the previous years, he admitted it was difficult to make up even 25 tables !

As usual when the New Year comes around , it is customary for us to do our visiting to my wife's relatives and my mom's sister's house. This year, with utheya married, there is another extension to the clan that we'll need to add into the itinerary calendar for visiting. The Families get together is a joyous occasion greeted yearly with exuberance for the collection of Red packets by the young children; followed by another occasion for the adults to gamble with friends and family whilst laying back and enjoying the sumptuos food and dishes the many family chefs concoct for us to indulge in throughout the occasion.
This year is also special as Shoryn's 16th Birthday will be celebrated during the holidays with our aunties and uncles and family @large for once as everyove will be around to help her blow her cake!
