The distance between two hearts!
The world at large seems more morbid and crazy as the days turn.
For someone who gets daily breaking news feed from around the world, all the mayhem, atrocities and sad news pervading outside my doors is simply too much to hear/bear at times, so much so that news that tittilate is much more preferable now-a -days to REAL Happening from around the world.
The Dinner was attended with well over 400++ relatives and friends from both sides of the bride and groom, with the usual suspects on our side beaming widely for the pictures we took below ! Ah Cheong and his recently widowed father shared our table at the front of the dinner tables befitting our role as close relatives and it was also shared by Vincent Kang and wife.
The food as usual was good and presentable with 8 courses of specially selected dishes for all invitees to enjoy and there was also singing and a Lady boy show that caused the usually sedate wedding crowd to burst into raucous boisterousness late in the event as by then many were sloshed and heavily sedated including yours truly !
Vincent Kang also over Dinner gushed his appreciation for Michelle and me as he said being no angel himself, how he respected our family life; and after several gulps of Red wine,he proceeded to ask me to inquire with Cashmir Santiago, his good buddy the various twists and turn his own life has taken so far, knowing fully well that Cashmir is also close to me.
I whispered to him that "Vincent, no man is an angel and neither are the women saints" but the fact that he is still around with his wife and kids and they all live under one roof says volumes for the type life they have and the man he is.
To me, Life is not about getting everything our own way but more about making sure the family and children's surroundings are stable; safe and sound for us & our loved ones' combined prosperous future days.
Not many restaurants serve Shark's Fin Soup these days in the big cities due to the media and social networking boycott's but that does not seem to be the case down here. Over large amounts of Brandy, Red Wine, Beer and Guinness we imbibed and consumed ourselves silly whilst wishing and giving the newly weds our best wishes and blessings for their new life together.
The white pomfret is a savoured dish that is quite expensive. The Chefs did a good job in steaming and accompanying the plump fish with garlic soya sauce as the fish only lasted a good 2 minutes whole on the table before becoming all bones and tail.
