Friday Overtime Frolic

There's a slew of entertainment outlets in Melaka these days to occupy the die hard night birds of our fair city and each one is promoting itself with all kinds of new  food & Beverage tie in's - from previously hard to get designer beers to specialty beer types that just 5 years ago could never be seen on Melaka Bar shelves, all coupled with hearty local culinary fare.
And the names of these establishments are simply a hoot... what with names like The Library , The Office, Overtime.... most times if the wife calls all the guy has to say is that he's still hard at work... where ? Why at the Office of course !
Clarice (who's a friend to Michelle) bought a coupon recently on one of these promo items from Overtime and the group all decided to test out their beer tower and pork knuckle set.

Though the beer was a slight let down as it was not draft beer but canned beers that was poured into the slim tower (the MC tower's are bigger for a lower price); the pork knuckles was a sensational hit with every morsel enjoyed tremendously by all present.

Between that and the spaghetti's and virgin marys' which the ladies enjoyed with copious amount of champanus- Moey et Chandon, the balmy friday evening was spent happily enjoying the quiet but still evident evening breeze high up in the patio of The Hatten Mall overlooking the bright car lights of incoming vehicles driving into Melaka Raya three stories down. What a spectacular view !
An hour or two before we joined them at Overtime Bar though, I received a call from Jane who wanted to know if I'll be attending the Monday meeting at Straits Hotel called by Bharat who is hoping to revive his version of an Indian Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoined me to participate in the Hash Run's that her chapter is well known for, as she wanted Michelle and I to get to know the benefits of hashing. Pyrelal and his wife Angie are also part of this group so i suppose it is just a matter of time before Michelle is approached by Pierre to participate.
'Sounds very tiring but let's see how it goes ' was what I told her that evening but the thought of hashing is really intriguing.

That night, Sandra had some couch surfers staying with her whom she brought along for the occasion and there was also Angie and her hubby there with Michelle and me. Right around 11.30pm, we decided to check out the Golden Famosa Lounge for a little bit of variety and maybe some dancing. Though Melaka appears quiet in these late evenings but deep in the bowels of these lounges and dance clubs, the atmosphere and crowd is simply electric !

Life seems to take on a different sheen in these places as people are out for a good time and by all that is Right and Good, that is what they will do.

Even so called uncles and aunties are out in droves enjoying themselves so much so certain places are branded as only uncle/aunty places !


We ended the evening quite early at a quarter past two as the ladies were pooped and some were working the next few hours but everyone went home really happy and satisfied with the evening outing.
